Birthday Video

This is for family or anyone else willing to watch a long video of the normal birthday stuff!

Dinotopia

I came downstairs to exercise and found this amazing little world.
Aren't kiddos awesome?

The Party

Tucker's birthday party was last Saturday.
It was really fun!
All Ben's sisters and their families and our friends from the ward, the Smoots came.
Tucker had a great time, but I think the rest of us had more fun!

With the Utah cousins, Raef and Brynn

Everyone except the birthday boy is excited for the gumball machine I CAN'T get open.

The cake
(notice the fingerprints on the right side... Russel ya think?)

In the zone with his special bib that Gramma sent

He kept reaching his arms out, like he wasn't quite sure how to attack that huge slab of chocolate cake.

Finally he decided to grab the whole thing and shove it in his mouth.

What a little darling, if I do say so myself!

Christmas House

So, I apologize for spewing forth so many posts at once.
But as I've hinted at... I am an opportunist
And the opportunity to blog has arisen many times in a the past few days.

Also, I promise I'm not a show off.
My family has been asking to see pictures of the house, I swear.

All the leftover stockings got strewn about the boys' room
The angel is to remind them of what they are... deep, down, somewhere

Thanks to our parents, we actually have decorations to put up!

Doesn't it go, "And the stockings were hung by President Obama's head with care"?

And also for my family, here is more of our house:
The Guest Suite

The Master
(Ben picked out all the furniture and surprised me with it. He did a good job, huh)

Yes those are little boy smudges allllll over the mirror.

Gratitude and Angels

We were able to visit friends in Colorado Springs this Thanksgiving.
The Maynards are a wonderful family and
they showed us a lot about being strong and being thankful.

After we all ate Ben M. suggested we all talk about what we're thankful for this year other than God and our family because we could assume we're thankful for those things.
There were plenty of things that came to mind,
But it was funny because this year I have been especially thankful for God and my family.

Through trials Heavenly Father has taught me a lot about life.
He has taught me to be thankful for what we have by taking Ben's job and a house we were so close to and then blessing us with a new job and a wonderful place to live.

He has taught me to be thankful for the gospel in my life and how to truly live by its precepts through postpartum depression and
seeing what happens when the Spirit is absent in a family's home, and then seeing contrasting homes full of the Spirit.
Then filling myself and our home with the Spirit when I've needed Him and shown forth but a little effort.

He has taught me to be truly grateful for my parents and my husband's parents through blessing me with children of my own.

He has taught me the power of the scriptures.
The Book of Mormon and Bible are powerful tools in the home.
They have turned our family's life around 180 degrees
(and we weren't doing so bad before)
The insights, the love, the patience and the pure joy it brings can only come from a loving Heavenly Father who is just waiting to pour out His power and blessings upon us.

I have watched as my children have become happier, more contented and even better behaved since we began regular study. I am seeing more and more the angels that they are.

I am thankful for all the "angels" who have helped Heavenly Father teach me these things this past year. I have a lot of good examples!

Hooray, You're 1!

Today is Tucker's Birthday.
And the poor guy is sick.
(We all are really, but it's not bad)
I can't believe my second baby is already a year old.
And he sure is still my baby!

Welcome to the world

Signs Your Mothering Needs Work

You leave him in the high chair...

And find him on the table playing with a knife.

UH-OH

Oh... but he's so proud of himself!

Silly Faces

I encourage pure silliness...
even sometimes scariness
