Chinese Take-Out Wisdom

There's nothing like it!

What I learned:

We should all skip history class and wander around blissfully ignorant. Who says we should learn from the past? Not the fortune writers!

And

I should try out for American Idol.
(It's something I've never tried and something I definitely don't want enough)

Haircuts All Around

Or at least for two of us.

Russel's cut was done by Mom's developing hand

If you're wondering about the strange look on Russel's face in all of our recent pictures, that's me trying to teach him to smile for pictures. So he's usually saying,
"Cheese"
or
"(one, two,) threes!"
As you can see, it really doesn't produce a smile-like expression.
But I keep trying anyway.

Momma got bangs

Mom's was started by a professional and then "fixed" by yet again, Mom's developing hand.

Can you tell I think I'm lookin' good? Sing along with me,
"You're sooooo vain"
:)

Make that "Mice"

We finally found some mousetraps yesterday (we tried two different Wal-marts and neither had traps of any kind) and set them up when we got home. So that means they were up by about 8:45 or 9pm.

Fast forward a short hour to bed time. I'm in bed and notice that Ben is going out the side door to the deck for some reason. When he comes in the room I ask him what he's doing because we hadn't grilled anything that day (the only reason I could think of for him to go out there).

"Throwing out the dead mouse we trapped" he says. "What?" I exclaim.

Yes, that is how bad our infestation is, apparently! I guess they're pretty smart. They seem to have "mousy sense" for when we're getting ready for bed. But not smart enough, HAHA!

And not only that, but during one of our many half-woken stirrings during the night, we heard yet another trap go off.

eeeeEEEWWwww... I can't think about it too much. Especially Ben describing how the first one got trapped on its shoulder and thus was still trying to run away when he opened the drawer. Oh man. (I apologize for my morbid side revealing itself in these mouse posts. Also, the little guy thankfully died pretty quickly. Poor thing.)

Anyway, I want to say,

"Thank you Mom Caswell for leaving water in the sink! Otherwise there would still be 3 blind mice perusing through our utensils!"

So that means to all of you out there teasing her for leaving the sink full:

You should be begging at her feet to help you with pest control in your house! Right? :)

Welcome To Our World!

I was inspired to welcome you all into my world. Mine is one probably similar to almost every mother of small children's world, but welcome still the same!

This was my catalyst-stepping out of the shower face to face with a half-eaten apple

That farm's goin' nowhere fast

The usual resting place for Russel's cup: the little space between the cushion and the arm of the couch

Random hanging things everywhere, always, as the blur of my child passes on to wreak more havoc on my home.

This one's a step up. Last time it was my clothes before the toilet got flushed.... yeeaaahhh

Trying to make Valentines last until the party, which I drove 40 minutes to get to.... a day early

But this is why I do it all and love it all and try to be better....
even though I often fail...
these guys need me to be great, and always forgive me when I'm not.

To Answer Questions

I was very brave,
Our sink friend was making me sick too.
But I found him at about 9:00 am, so I knew I had to take care of it. I sure wasn't going to let him hang out until Ben got home at 4pm.
So I said a prayer asking for bravery and strength, no joke (even if that was stupid),
got out the tongs and put him in a ziploc bag,
and threw him off of our deck to a snowy, ziploc baggy, perhaps kitty tummy grave.
Then I replugged the sink with those same tongs,
and filled it with water and bleach.
The sink stayed that way for hours, let me tell ya.
I wanted every mousy germ DEAD!
Then my sister came and helped me sanitize the rest of the kitchen,
because I could just imagine little feet scurrying EVERYWHERE.... yuck.

Viewer Discretion Advised

Yes, read at your own risk.

I want to let you all in on a bad dream I had.

You see, in real life, my mother-in-law Pam came over to visit and to help clean up a little yesterday. She was kind enough to wash whatever dishes didn't fit in the dishwasher by hand, of course leaving a sink full of dirty dish water. I realized I hadn't drained the sink yet when I went to bed, but left it for the morning.

So, in this dream, I see the sink full in the morning, roll up my sleeve and plunge my bare hand into the murky water to unscrew the drain cover and let the water drain. For some reason, I hover by the sink to watch the water as it slowly reveals the bits of floating food left behind.

Slowly, a black object comes into my view. "Is that a spatula or grilling tool?" I wonder. As the mystery object becomes clearer, I notice that it is floating. "Odd", I think to myself. As the water drains oh, so slowly, my mind begins to race.
"What is that? What is that?
What IS THAT?"

It is a MOUSE.

A floaty, furry, stiff and dirty,
DEAD MOUSE.

Oh wait, it wasn't a dream...

AHHHHH!!

Silly boys

This one's for you Stace! Sorry it took so long!

Crazy eyes!

Painting for the first time!

He likes his hats sideways

Russel got to make cupcakes with Grandma Caswell. He was very proud of his work, but didn't want to eat it!

Fell asleep during lunch

While I was feeding Tucker, I noticed Russel looking for something under the couch. Next thing, I heard Russel's little voice coming from underneath me saying, "I stuck....ahhhh, I stuck"

Wearing Mommy's shoes

Look at how much they don't look alike!

Tell me what you think... do they or don't they?

Russel age 2 months

Tucker age 2 months

Also, Tucker had his 2 month check-up:

23 1/2 inches-65 %
13 lbs 1 oz-75%

That means he grew 1 inch and gained 2 lbs 1 oz in ONE MONTH! I can't believe how fast babies grow!

This shows one of the many differences between the brothers. Russel hovered around 10th percentile mostly... I'm afraid his brother's gonna outgrow him quickly. Look out!

Christmas Break

I'm way behind!

Sledding at Grandma & Grampa Caswell's

The brothers' Christmas gift photo (our son Russel and our son the sucker fish!)

In their Christmas suits with Uncle Dale and Aunt Danielle (Ben's bro and sis)

Enjoying tummy time on his new surfboard

Smiles!
